Books in the Wild

October 14, 2011

Happy Friday!  Welcome to our first installment of a new monthly feature we’re calling Books in the Wild.  Here’s the idea: when you see a fabulous book related photo opp, snap a picture and email it to us at random acts of reading @ gmail dot com.  One Friday per month we’ll run a post with a collection of fun photos featuring books in their natural habitat… books being written, books on shelves, books in readers hands, books on display, books on the beach, on the subway, on an airplane, on a train…. you get the idea.

To kick off this new feature, here are some of our favorite photos, old and new.  Moving forward this post will depend on you, our loyal readers, so please send us your pictures!  Each month, the submission that receives the most comments will win something from our treasure box (aka Bobbie’s office in New York that’s piled floor to ceiling with books and other goodies).

"This is an old picture, but I love it every single time I see it! From Doylestown Bookshop." - Nic

While Kate's out selling, these characters make a break from her office and get a little reading in.

From Lillian: Sarah Gerald, Children's Buyer at McNally Jackson, worked with local teachers and librarians to create this beautiful table display!

I love these photos, and was going to say that there are sure a lot of bears in that first photo! I also love the Random House lobby and think I could sit there and read all day!
