12 Days of Books: Day 2

December 10, 2010

We’ll be featuring one short review a day from a member of our group from now until December 24 (excluding weekends) as part of our 12 Days of Books so check back daily! We’ll cover all age ranges, from baby through adult books. And at the end of the 12 days, we will offer one lucky reader the chance to win all 12 books to read yourself, give as gifts, or donate to your local schools or libraries. If you missed day 1, click here.

Today’s review comes to us from Erin!

Barefoot Contessa: How Easy Is That? by Ina Garten

Perfect for: Gourmands, beginner cooks, and people who love delicious, simple food.

Why they’ll love it: I know we don’t often feature books for adults, but in my free time, I love to cook, and the Barefoot Contessa recipes are reliable hits for dinner parties, entertaining, or a simple meal at home. Ina Garten doesn’t skimp on the butter and cheese, but her recipes are full of flavor and fresh ingredients. This brand new book might contain her easiest recipes yet- all contain uncomplicated techniques designed for cooks of all levels. I’ve already made the Greek Panzanella, the Roast Shrimp with Feta and the Easy Parmesan “Risotto”- all amazing! And the photograph alone of the Chocolate Pudding Cream Tart sold me on the book. This would make a great gift for your close friends and family, or the hard-to-shop for teacher or neighbor.
